BaaS, PaaS, CBDCs, and PSD3: Decoding the Banking Buzzwords from EBAday 2023
Abstract
BaaS, PaaS, CBDCs, and PSD3 were the buzzwords that dominated many of the sessions and my conversations with colleagues at EBAday 2023 in Madrid. Some of these acronyms represent evolving regulations, while others are emerging business models.
I recently attended EBAday 2023 in Madrid. The EBA, or Euro Banking Association, is an industry forum for the European payments industry, and EBAday is its annual summit. With close to 200 member banks and organizations from the European Union and around the world, EBA works to foster and drive pan-European payment initiatives.
I always enjoy EBAday because I get to hear firsthand from some of the most senior European transaction banking and payments executives about what’s on their minds. This year’s event was no different. Here we discuss a handful of the far-ranging topics that shaped the agenda at EBAday.
