Property Casualty Loss Control and Premium Audit Systems
North America 2021 Spectrum Report - Powered by VendorMatch
Abstract
Loss control and premium audit are two functions of an insurer that often play a secondary role in the processing of business but continue to be important parts of an insurer’s underwriting and customer service strategy. Both functions are designed to directly gather information from the policyholder that are used in the underwriting and pricing processes. Because of the direct access to policyholders, both functions also have the potential to play a significant role in customer experience.
Loss control is focused on both gathering the data needed to accurately identify, manage, and reduce risks, and providing differentiated customer service. Premium audit is focused on ensuring the insurer has accurate information in order to calculate the premium. While these two functions are often located in different parts of the organization and have different functional needs, the technology available to support both functions has some overlapping capabilities—and in some cases is provided in the same product.
This report provides an overview of the loss control and premium audit systems available in North America for property and casualty insurance carriers. It also includes data from a recent snap poll of members of the Celent Executive Research Panel on their use of loss control and premium audit solutions.
