Celent Banking Newsletter, September 2013
From the Senior Vice President
Preparations are well under way for a busy fall conference season. Celent analysts will be at Sibos in Dubai, Finovate in New York, AFP and Money2020 in Vegas, and BAI in Denver (among others). Of course, we'll also be preparing for our own one-day conference, What's Next: The Search for Disruptive Innovation.
I invite you to join us on a journey around the world of innovation. With firsthand accounts from the US, Europe, and Asia, this is your chance to learn from success stories. Phileas Fogg needed to rely on ships, trains, sledges, and elephants for his circumnavigation, but you just need to enter the ballroom of the InterContinental Hotel. Hear from the individuals responsible for driving innovation within their organizations and learn how they achieved success despite the challenges they encountered along the way. We've released several new reports. No Bank Is an Island looks at the forces shaping the retail bank ecosystem today and makes the case for banks developing the new skill of partnering. A second report, Video Banking: Lights, Camera, Transaction?, looks at trends in video banking and demonstrates, through case studies, effective uses of this emerging technology that sometimes gets lost in all of the excitement around mobile. And finally, we've detailed the current state of adoption of core banking systems around the world in the report, Global Core Banking: Steady But Unspectacular Growth. Growth is steady, but we have yet to see any massive breakouts. Most banks still want to see demonstrated and sustained success before they commit to wholesale transformation. In other words, they ought to consider innovation.
I hope to see you during my travels this fall; if we can be of help before then, please let us know!
All the best,
Dan Latimore
