Celent Insurance Newsletter, May 2010
From the Senior Vice President
Is it my imagination, or has the world gotten smaller recently?
A volcano in Iceland blows its top, and suddenly global air travel becomes a real hit-or-miss proposition. A financial crisis in Greece paralyzes political decision-making among the EU countries, and world markets take a pause from their gradual recoveries. An oil platform sinks off the coast of Louisiana, igniting a worldwide debate over energy policies.
It used to be that people circled the globe on trains and airplanes, carrying briefcases full of information. Now information leads the way, with blazing speed. People sometimes still make the trek, but data flows constantly.
At Celent, we try to provide a localized, global view. We break down universal issues, helping our clients adjust their strategies to the new world we all live in. We also layer those insights with local perspectives, from people in the markets we cover.
Sometimes we're inspired to replicate our best ideas in new markets. Case in point: our Tokyo team is creating an Asia-specific version of our popular Model Insurer report, which recognizes effective use of technology by carriers. Whether you're a carrier or a vendor, submit your best projects here.
Thanks for letting Celent help you think through the issues that drive our incredible, shrinking planet
