The Rise of Citizen Developers

Abstract

Implementing changes has always required various human and technology resources. Wealth management (WM) firms have generally employed specific processes to plan, execute, manage, and monitor changes within their organization. These changes would go through specific managerial and developer teams; however, digitization has democratized that process to include citizen developers through low code no code platforms.

The promise of low code no code platforms offers nontechnical teams the ability to entirely circumvent writing lines of code by using graphical user interfaces with drag-and-drop capabilities to build, test, and deploy applications. Aside from being accessible to nontechnical users (i.e., business analysts), the value is derived from quick development timeframes and low-cost deployment.

This report explores these concepts and provides a description of IT vendors and their offerings in the low code no code platform arena. It profiles nine IT solution providers and is not restricted to a specific geography. The vendors profiled in this report are 3Forge, Appian, Caspio, Intellect Design Arena, Mendix, ServiceNow, SS&C Technologies, Vermeg, and WaveMaker Inc.
