Abstract

Health and life science are domains that are highly and rapidly impacted by technology changes. We have been tracking technology trends in health insurance and are particularly impressed by the pace of change and the adaptability of health insurers.

Back in 2020, we documented our views on technology changes impacting the health insurance domain with a particular focus on health informatics, Internet of Things (IoT), and wearables as well as integrated health records. These discussions are still current in health insurance.

As we are slowly exiting a two-year period marked by the influence of the global pandemic, we think it is time to provide an update on the key technology trends observed in the health insurance industry.

This report provides Celent’s perspectives on technology trends in health insurance with a specific focus on five topics.

Each domain is part of a dedicated section and includes our perspective as well as one or more illustrative examples derived from our Model Insurer programmes from the past three years.
