Autumn is Coming: It's Time to Submit Your Model Award Nomination
Celent’s Model Awards judging is nowhere near as draconian as Game of Thrones, but the competition’s still pretty fierce! Having read thousands of submissions over the last decade, I have a vested interest in helping every firm who puts itself forward to write as good an entry as possible. We’ve made every effort to make the process as lightweight as possible; the heavier lifting comes if and when you win an award! If you’re on top of the details, you can be done in 30 minutes. But remember: time is running out, and you need to get this in by October 13.
So what makes a good submission? First and foremost winners have strong initiatives that deliver significant business benefits (quantification helps); display a high degree of innovation; and show excellence in technology and/or implementation. Strength on its own, though, is a necessary but not sufficient condition for winning. You also need to clearly and succinctly convince us of your story. The best submissions, in fact, form a solid foundation for writing our case studies.
As a judge, my perspective is that of a financial institution: what could I learn from a case study that would help me do my job better? As someone who has assessed every banking submission over the last ten years, I’d suggest that you focus on describing the Opportunity and the synthesized version of the Solution. What is the short paragraph for each one of these that clearly describes the highlights of what your firm did? We’re not that interested in boilerplate philosophies; concrete descriptions of what you did, why you did it, and how you achieved results are much more compelling.
I’d encourage you to take half an hour to submit you work here. There’s no cost, and if you don’t win, no one’s going to know. If you do win, however, we’ll work with you to write a case study detailing your success – and don’t worry, you’ll have the opportunity to review and approve everything before it's published.
