OVERVIEW
Within the UK, the FSA's Retail Distribution Review (RDR) is set to go live from 31 December 2012 and is already is starting to change the way that retail investment products are being sold and serviced across the UK.Many companies are deep in the middle of planning their implementations -- not just to meet the basic compliance needs but also to explore new business models and propositions. With just over 12 months to go until implementation of RDR, how prepared is the industry to meet the deadline and where are the shared challenges?

Matthew Browne has worked at the Financial Services Authority (FSA) since 2006.He currently serves on the RDR Implementation Team, acts as a Conduct Supervisor and leads on Banks and Insurers.Past roles within the FSA include, working with Profits Review, Structured Products Review and Pension Switching Review.He also served as Commercial Insurance Policy Lead.Prior to joining the FSA, Browne was an Economist at the Association of British Insurers.

Jamie Macgregor is a senior analyst in Celent’s insurance practice and is based in our London office. His research focuses on IT strategy, the business value of IT, and the technology challenges facing the European life and pensions market.Prior to joining Celent, Jamie was a Senior Manager within Deloitte’s management consulting practice where he led engagements focused on helping clients develop their IT strategy aligned to their business goals, post-M&A integration, and enterprise architecture.While in industry, Jamie performed a number of key lead IT / Business interface roles, such as Head of IT Strategy for AXA UK & Ireland, and led change delivery at both AIG and Zurich Financial Services.

He later moved into consultancy where he undertook numerous strategic and operational assignments for a wide range of clients. At Altus, Okell is responsible for managing the ongoing development of strategy and propositions and has presented at a number of industry events. As one of Altus' founders, he has shaped develpoment of both its Consultancy Change Framework, PEAK and its long-term Software Products roadmap -- both of which reflect his networked vision of the future of Financial Services.
