Torstone Technology awarded ISO 27001 Certification for Information Security Management
London — 17 February 2015 — Torstone Technology, providers of securities and derivatives post-trade processing software to the global financial markets, today announce that they have been awarded International Standard Organisation (ISO) 27001 Certification from the British Standards Institution (BSI).
The ISO 27001:2013 is a specification for information security management, which is only awarded to companies that can meet the standard as judged by accredited, independent auditors.
Torstone Technology provide their Inferno Back-Office platform to highly regulated investment banks and brokerage firms and take responsibility for high volumes of sensitive customer data. Ensuring the highest levels of information security is integral to the protection of the company, customers and its partners, protecting against mishandling of customer information and data breaches as a result of cyber attacks.
Cyber security is becoming an urgent priority for financial institutions as criminals targeting banks develop increasingly sophisticated methods to steal valuable data and hack into proprietary systems.
Brian Collings, chief executive of Torstone Technology said: “In recent years there have been high profile cases of IT security failures and they are often due to policy breaches rather than technical failures. Complying with ISO 27001 is an on-going effort which ensures senior management and all staff recognise the importance of following strict IT security protocol to protect our clients’ data.”
The ISO 27001:2013 award certifies that Torstone Technology:
- thoroughly evaluates and identifies risks, and has measures in place to manage or reduce them
- operates with a comprehensive set of information security controls and other risk management measures to address security risks within its hosted services as well as its corporate environment
- implements an overarching program to ensure that the information security controls meet the information security needs for both stakeholders and customers on an ongoing basis
Torstone Technology continues to expand its client base, with an active implementation of Inferno for a major UK broker and the recent implementation of Inferno to support Liquidnet’s business in Japan.
