Abstract

In a new report, "Ranking the U.S. Vendors of Sell-Side Order Management Systems 2003," Celent profiles and evaluates a select group of OMS vendors in the U.S. equities market. This report is a companion to the U.S. OMS market overview report which was published earlier this year. (For more information, please see Sell-side OMS in the U.S.: A Changing of the Guard? July, 2003.)

Celent’s ranking of the vendors (Table 1) was based on evaluations of core functionality, advanced functionality, existing client base, financial performance, and industry reputation. There seven OMS vendors profiled in this report are: Davidge Data Systems, GL Trade, NYFIX, OM Group, royalblue, Sanchez Computer Associates, and SunGard BRASS.

"Market opportunities for OMS vendors in the large broker segment continue to decrease as more large brokers with global operations turn to in-house development," says Celent analyst, Sang Lee, the author of the report, but "BRASS and NYFIX still dominate the U.S. equities OMS market." Lee adds, "However, as new entrants, such as royalblue and, in the near future, Lava Trading, make inroads into the market, we may see a very different competitive landscape a few years from now."
