2019年アジア太平洋地域のカンファレンス・シーンを振り返る: Part 1
Here's a short recap of where and what we discussed
Conferences are always exciting and filled with thought-provoking ideas and discussion. This was indeed the case in 2019 around Asia. The year was packed with many great opportunities to attend panel discussions and presentations across the region. In addition to being able to communicate past research results and findings through presentations, I was happy to be able to serve in the role of conference chair and panel moderator, and have opportunities to engage and discuss with leading industry thinkers and luminaries, paving the path for future research themes and insights all of which were quite valuable to me. People meet, exchange opinions and ideas with the result of deeper discussion. To my mind, the preparation and nerves that precede the big day are fundamental to the mission of being an analyst and at the heart of our profession. Being just into 2020, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the 2019 conference scene in Asia. There were several common keywords and recurring themes in discussions in the banking, insurance, securities and wealth management industries. These included the following: advancements in and the evolution of the digital economy and emerging new competitive relationships; creating new added value through open architecture and APIs; data and monetization of data; renewals and upgrades of legacy platforms and core systems; and sustainable innovation renewing business models.
In Part 1, I will look back on five noteworthy conferences from the earlier part of 2019.
