Celent's Latin American Insurance IT Executive Summit 2022
This last June 5, Celent hosted its Latin American Insurance IT Executive Summit (Latinsites) in Fort Lauderdale. It was a high energy event full of food for thought. We had guest speakers coming from Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Uruguay, the US, and even Singapore!
Our keynote speaker, Mick Simonelli[1] - a renowned innovator and troublemaker – challenged us to avoid victory disease. An innovator in the military and the financial services industry, he brought a clear message on why and how to avoid resting on our laurels. He did also gift us copies of his latest book: “Victory Disease: Why Great Organizations Fail and How to Innovate Before It's Too Late”.

In partnership with Insurance Innovation Reporter (IIR) we celebrated the Five Star Awards, recognizing outstanding insurance IT leadership in five regions of Latin America. We received over a hundred nominations for the awards. A synopsis of each finalist, by Anthony O’Donnell, can be found in IIR following the hyperlinks for each region: Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, Andean, Brazil and the Southern Cone.
The winners were announced during a gala dinner on June 6 and let me tell you that the decision was not easy for the jury given the level of achievements of each finalist. Anthony and I had the privilege to recognize these executives, among the amazing finalists for each region:
Thanks to Gabriela Rozier (Evenet), Hilario Itriago (The Latam Insurtech Accelerator), and Gustavo Roberto Vieira Doria Filho (CQCS) for joining me in the jury duties. To continue with the high energy of the event, Celent presented on the latest trends in digital transformation, claims innovation, the use of data, and how to innovate effectively. Celent also announced two new major initiatives to accelerate innovation and the use of insurtech:
- C-LENT Platform: The C-Level Executive Networking Tool enables IT professionals from the Latin American insurance industry to connect through a private platform provided by Celent. This platform is designed to be a space to interact with peers and tap into the collective knowledge supported by Celent analysts. It has different levels of memberships, starting with a free version and building on top of that with different paid services available and provided by Celent. Please reach out to Fabio Sarrico (fsarrico@celent.com) if you want to learn more about C-LENT Platform and how to participate.
- Innovation Research and Advisory Program: Innovation executives and teams have an increasing mandate to deliver results, but the insurance industry is rapidly evolving, there is more complexity, startups, technologies, and applications to stay on top of and prioritize. Celent helps you connect this ever-changing puzzle. This specific program is aimed to all those interested in insurance innovation. We offer objective advice and clarity, backed by a database of thousands of startups and award-winning global best practice use cases. In collaboration with SwitchPitch, we also offer access to a unique platform connecting startups, enterprises and ecosystems for companies to accelerate and effectively manage insurtech innovation. Please reach out to me (jmazzini@celent.com) if you want to learn more about this program and the SwitchPitch Platform.
I personally had a great time during the event. Learn, share, celebrate, and connect; all these are in the heart of the design of Latinsites, and based on what I experienced and heard from others, the mission was accomplished.
Our gratitude to all the speakers, participants, and sponsors (Equisoft, Guidewire, and Sisnet by Prosegur Avos) that made Latinsites22 possible, and a special thanks to Anthony O’Donnell from IIR and Gabriela Rozier from Evenet, and their teams, for continuing to believe that quality matters and for being a partner in this journey of bringing together the best of insurance and technology.
More news to come soon on how we are taking insurtech to the next level. Contact me if you want to know more.
