Morgan Stanley: The Portfolio Risk Platform
Winner of the 2024 Celent Model Risk Manager Award for Data and Analytics
Abstract
Morgan Stanley Wealth Management is bringing access to portfolio risk insights directly to its financial advisors, embedding risk management capabilities into the advisor and client user experience.
Morgan Stanley’s Portfolio Risk Platform (PRP) makes risk analytics available to financial advisors, enabling them to see over-risked and under-risked accounts. This self-service approach to risk analytics brings analysis of the risks as well as opportunities in client portfolios to Morgan Stanley’s financial advisors and to their end clients.
Significantly, use of the platform is correlated with a growing book: Top users of the Portfolio Risk Platform are growing over four times faster than advisors that didn’t use the platform.
The Portfolio Risk Platform leverages BlackRock’s Aladdin risk analytics system, customized to support Morgan Stanley’s risk management strategies.
