HSBC Securities Services: Innovating Access to Private Asset Details
2022 Winner of Celent Model Capital Markets Bank Award for Digital Transformation
Abstract
HSBC Securities Services Digital Vault is the winner of Celent’s 2022 Model Bank Award for Digital Transformation.
This strategic initiative allowed HSBC Securities Services to solve a key current client pain point around access to private asset records by digitally transforming the process, leveraging distributed ledge technology (DLT) and cloud, while also laying the foundations for future use of these emerging technologies. Digital Vault provides investors with real time access to records of assets, wheether materialized/de-materialized, bought on private markets.
The solution enables the creation of a seamless workflow through the lifecycle of a private placement, reducing administration costs and delays. Built on R3's Corda DLT and leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Digital Vault offers immutable data for certificates, uniqueness, time stamped, cryptographically signed transactions and keeps customer’s assets under custody.
Digital Vault is currently being used by HSBC Securities Services Global Custody Asia, HSBC Direct Custody US, and external customers in Asia.
In this Celent case study, we review the journey, partners and quantifyable results that impressed the Model Award judges.
