Abstract

Since initiating coverage of the RegTech theme, Celent has participated in the 3D FinTech Challenge 2015 conducted by Dassault Systèmes in conjunction with Deutsche Börse.

The Challenge focused on addressing the impact of regulation across financial services through harnessing existing data management technologies or the latest disruptive technologies to improve the competitive advantage of financial institutions.

Celent’s role was to facilitate discussion among participants from various parts of the financial markets to capture their engagement in the overall theme of RegTech.

In this presentation, Celent senior analyst John Dwyer looks at the FinTech landscape, the trajectory of regulation and regulatory priorities, and the future these trends point to: the automation of regulation.

The implications are enormous. As Dwyer observed in a recent report, technology will not merely change regulation by automating certain requirements, such as reporting. Rather, technology will change every aspect of regulation in the same way it has changed every aspect of financial services.
